Rusty

From
$800.00

Rusty introduced the Neil board a few years ago, which has gained popularity in recent times. He recently updated the design to make it even better, introducing the Diamond Mini or D Min. The new design offers improved performance in smaller waves and is easier to catch thanks to its increased volume. The D Min performs well in a wide range of wave conditions, from knee-high to head-high. The board should be ridden shorter, similar to a fish, due to its added volume.

The D Min got its name from its unique diamond tail, a combination of a round pin and squash, which enables tighter turns than traditional wide surfboards. The low entry rocker, added foam in the chest area, aggressive tail rocker, and vee off the tail make it easy to paddle and maneuver, transitioning smoothly from rail to rail. If you're searching for a versatile and practical surfboard for everyday surf conditions, the D Min is the perfect choice for you.

SHAPER'S NOTES

D MIN SPECIFICATIONS

Take on any surf condition with the D Min surfboard. The front three quarters of the board resembles a fish shape, with a nose width of approximately 15.5 inches that carries to the rear. The unique outline features a smooth break that leads to a semi-full Diamond Tail. The Diamond Tail is a combination of round pin and squash, with the corners moved forward to maintain area, shorten the rail, and provide a clean exit for a board with some tail vee. This design was popular in the 1970s on various types of surfboards.

The D Min is a modern take on the Neil Diamond surfboard, a popular design in our line for many years. This new board is best ridden shorter, like a fish shape, with a low entry rocker and an aggressive exit. The rail to rail features a shallow single concave in the front that blends into a moderately deep single concave in the center, transitioning into a double concave in the sweet spot about 20 inches from the tail. The tail has a slight amount of rolled vee and a very slight forward nod in the foil. With plenty of volume, the D Min is a versatile solution for surfers of all levels. Another excellent solution to everyday surf conditions. The front three quarters of the D Min resembles something fishy. The nose is approx. 15.5 inches wide. The width carries back to the rear of the board. What is different, is the smooth break in the outline that pulls into a a semi full Diamond Tail. What is a Diamond Tail? A blend of round pin and squash with the corners moved forward a bit maintaining area, shortening the rail, finishing with a subtle point, and a very clean exit for a board with some tail vee. Diamonds were used quite a bit in the early 1970s on a wide range of boards all the way up the ladder.

A few years back I designed a board called the Neil Diamond. It has been enjoyed a long time in our line. More recently, there's been more interest. This new design, ride it shorter, like a fishy thing. The rocker is somewhat low in the entry. Aggressive on the exit. Rail to rail: up front, is a shallow single that blends into a moderately deep single concave in the center. It transitions into a double that is deepest in the sweet spot, about 20 or so inches up from the tail. It then finishes with a very slight amount of rolled vee off the tail. The foil has a very slight nod forward. Volume: plenty.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

WHAT MAKES THIS BOARD WORK

Diamond Tail

Really helps this board with tighter turns than most full, wide everyday surfboards.

D Min Diamond Tail
D Min entry rocker

Low entry rocker

Lower entry rocker and added foam in the chest really helps this board paddle with ease.

Aggressive tail rocker

The aggressive tail rocker mixed in with the vee off the tail makes this board still have lots of maneuverability to transition from rail to rail.

D Min tail rocker

D Min concave

Double Concave

The double concave directs the water into two channels through the fins and creates a much looser ride.
