What is DHD EpoxiCore?
is the combination of two of the best surfboard constructions at the moment using the positive aspects of both traditional fibreglass and epoxy constructions.
is essentially an epoxy board that has been designed with high performance weight distribution designed to eliminate speed "chatter" and whilte giving you maximum rail performance. Typically, epoxy constructions will resist connecting with the wave at critical points in turns while the additional PU 'frame' on EpoxiCore
provides the necessary control for completing desired maneuvers.
The most exciting feature lies in the bottom half of the board with a performance focused control flex. Much like a compressed spring releasing its energy, this board releases it's energy into the surfer, giving you plenty of confidence to take your surfing to the next level.
The PU rails are weighted allowing you to bury them providing you with the necessary control to complete desired manoeuvres.
The designed weight distribution eliminates speed chatter while maintaining a solid connection with the water.
With over thirty years of shaping experience, head shaper Darren Handley has created a board/construction that brings together the best attributes of both fibreglass and epoxy constructions. Along with the development team at DHD and their pro surfers Steph, Jack and Mick, the team has embraced Epoxi Core project exploring new technology, design and manufacturing techniques.
World Champions Mick Fanning and Stephanie Gilmore with Jack Freestone were active members of the development team very willing to provide their knowledge and ultimately be the test pilots for this exciting project. Their enthusiasm for EpoxiCore drove the DHD
team to realize their goal and deliver both their team and surfing enthusiasts the ultimate surfing experience.
"It makes me want to surf"
- Stephanie Gilmore
"This board is a game changer"
- Jack Freestone
"The unique thing is you still have the forward momentum of a regular board but with the core making it ideal for someone who wants to ride an epoxy"
- Mick Fanning
EpoxiCore technology is available in the DX1
and Switchblade models
, later this year DHD will introduce the technology to the Mick Fanning range.
