"Incredible board! Now surfed in different type of waves and it works well on fat to hollow waves. I tried 4 different fins on the RTT and mainly surf it with the Akila Aipa as it drives like mad and gives it a nice loose feeling. For bigger steeper days when take offs are going to be challenging, I surf it with the Rasta twins as it is still fast but provides added hold on the drop!
The wide surface area of the board gives it a very forgiving and comfort feeling while riding the waves. Natural speed flows into long nice carves or loose fins out depending on the fins you use.
I surfed the RTT on small to 4ft reef breaks and fat to hollow. I found it most fun on fat onshore days."

My idea behind getting a rare bird was to have something smaller then your high performance shortboard that can handle a step drop into a 2-5ft reef break or beachie that would enable me to get tubed whilst still having the option of using the board in below par waves. The rare bird is super fast which enables you to make it down the line past the close out section and I found it excelled on point breaks and solid reef breaks using a quad setup. Surfing a good solid 3-5ft beachie in southern WA I found that the rare bird, provided that I made the steep drop, enabled me to get barrelled a lot easier then my Pyzel Bastard.

Super loose and manoeuvrable board but unfortunately I felt like it paddled like a pig, struggled to catch waves with it and always found myself taking super late drops and barely making waves on it. I bought this to be my small wave shredder but it actually worked better in punchy waves. I ended up trading it in for a Js black box 2 after a couple of months. I also own a hypto krypto and that board is completely different.

Excellent board. Needs good waves where it comes alive. What is sacrificed in stability and paddle power is gained threefold in speed and maneuverability.

Fast and responsive board with a really lively feel, that particularly comes alive in hollow or bowly waves. I ride it as a step up from a dumpster diver. The diver responds better to flat waves, but as soon as there is a bit more shape the project 15 next gen feels way "sharper" and faster.

The board is extremely manoeuvrable while maintaining good stability. It is a great wave-catcher with the extra width. The addition of the extra small futures fins match the board perfectly.

Took this board to g-land and had solid 4-10 ft waves.. Mainly surfed as quad and it went really well.. Highly recommend the monster for hollow powerful reef break.
