Slab

Pyzel

The Slab has a wider nose and stubby outline make it a super stable board for landing big airs developed with John John Florence as a step-down board in good conditions.

With the lower entry rocker and more flip in the tail, the Slab is extreamly fast right off the bat and down the line, yet super responsive with the ability to jam tight turns in the pocket. Surf this board in anything from waist high to over head, lay it on rail, snap it in the pocket and take it high above the lip. The Slab loves it all.

At my age I thought I should pick this board up a little bigger than what would be my standard size. Glad I did because I have been mostly surfing on a longboard the last few years and this felt very fast and loose. But after a few hours catching more waves then most of the people around me I realized that I had a really nice matchup. I really saw myself surfing overhead barrels on this because of its name, But instead I found myself quickly skating through small surf with a big grin. I have yet to take it out in overhead surf and have only had a couple days of really quality surf on the board. But I do love how quickly it turns while also feeling really stable in flat sections and when wanting to just go fast and straight.

This board is a perfect option for good surfers wanting a smaller board option for slab type beachies and reefs up to 6ft, but also who want a board that is still responsive enough that you can change your line easily in the barrel and still release the fins and do big punts! I ordered the slab 2inches shorter, 1/2 inch wider and same thickness as my go to shortboard. However, next time I won't order it wider as it's fuller nose and fuller rails overall give plenty of paddle speed and buoyancy over flat sections of the wave. But if you are an average surfer than definitely go the extra 1/4 or 1/2inch width as Jon Pyzel suggests. I got a round tail and it holds in sick in slabby barrels and it punts good too, more stable for landing airs than my Pyzel Grunt model. Sick board !
