Founded in the early '90s by Mark Cappa, Stay Covered originated in a garage, where Cappa crafted board bags for friends and family. Initially, it served as a means for his wife to generate extra income while caring for their two young children. By the mid-'90s, Stay Covered expanded into handmade leash manufacturing, utilizing the same machines that crafted the board bags. As the business grew, Stay Covered moved from the garage to its own warehouse at Linden Surfboards in the early 2000s. Inspired by Todos Santos regular Gary Linden, Stay Covered developed thicker, stronger leashes capable of handling significant waves, solidifying its reputation as a go-to leash for challenging conditions. Today, Stay Covered continues to produce all leashes in Oceanside, CA, maintaining a commitment to quality materials and professional workmanship.
