Rasta Torus Twin

Gary McNeill

The Rasta Torus Twin was first designed in 2009 by Gary McNeill and pro surfer Dave Rastovich. It features a full length "Torus" channel sitting inside a single concave which provides hold in hollow sections and helps you generate speed when pumping with your front foot.

Because of this channel, the RTT has more control than your traditional twin fin and due to the absence of drag from the center fin can generate speed quicker than your thruster.

Please note:
  • This board includes a "Torus" channel as standard
  • Tree Tech Construction (as displayed) is not included. Please choose below

It took me a couple of sessions to figure this board out, and my experience with twins in the past has been so so, but this board has made me a believer! She paddles really well, and once you're locked in it's off to the races. I surfed it in 6-8 foot barreling beachbreak and it handles the tube well, and also allows you to get vertical on your turns (more so than other twins). I love the way it looks without a track pad, but make sure you wax it all the way down the fish tail. Sometimes you'll actually pivot off of those tail corners. The praise for Gary McNeil seems to be on the money here, and this board has me wanting to try other more high performance shapes, like the Entity.

Helps me catch waves even when conditions are subpar. This board is an everyday board you will catch all your daily waves on this. Perfect board if you are more bulky ir swole than the typical surfer due to the design if the board.

Super fun from the get go. Fast, loose, and goes on rail great. Best Performance twin I’ve ever ridden, Prefers clean conditions, doesn’t handle chatter well. Order volume over what you like bc they measure it before the take out the channel, at least that’s what they told me on my custom and from speaking with others with this board most say they wish it was slightly thicker for paddling. That’s the only gripe

I saw a 5’7” and knew a little smaller, an 1/8” thinner would be perfect. And I was correct at 5’6” x 20” x 2 3/8”. I weigh 158 lbs. and 2 3/8” thickness gives me the bite and pop, I like in a board. I could’ve gone thicker for more paddling power, but Gary has a fairly flat deck that carries the foam into a nice taper at the rail. It’s still a good paddler without being corky. I’m sure the biofoam has something to do with this. It surfs well, in solid overhead waves with push, and surprisingly rips in thigh high windswell. I use the Rasta twins, and they give good drive and nice release when you’re flaring and blowing the fins out. It took a few surfs, to get the board figured out. And that’s probably me, but once you do, it is fast, drivey and loose without any overly slidey feel. Although, you can do controlled tail slides out of a cutback. Lastly, the construction is really strong, light and the flax cloth looks so cool. People are always commenting on how beautiful it is. What more do you need? Thanks Gary, stoked on mine.

Extremely fun surfboard! Performs better than a standard retro twin. Get a bit of extra thickness as the hull channel takes a bit out but gives it better responsiveness. Took a bit to figure out which fins I liked best but shes goes in anything!

The RTT is a speed machine! You know you’ve got a great board when everything just feels right. As soon as I picked it up, I knew the board was going to be good. Same in the water, as soon as I paddled on it, the board was balanced and just seemed to glide. Super easy to paddle into waves and really fun to surf...I couldn’t be more happy with my Gary McNeill RTT.

Wasn't too sure about the board at first as I haven’t had much experience on a twin fin but persevered with it and quickly learned to enjoy it. Now it’s pretty much the most ridden board in my quiver.

The twin fin goes really well in 2 foot plus and okay in 1-2. Likes a clean face to put down clean rail to rail turns, also has really good drive off the bottom and controlled release when wanted.

The RTT goes really sick. It floats a lot better than it seems based on the streamlined dimensions. Personally I was worried it wouldn't ride enough like a fish, but so far it has felt really solid, effortless speed, clean arching manoeuvrability. I'm using the (Futures) K1 keels and they are super good, great momentum with great control on small to medium sized waves. I was surprised how responsive it was, very controlled and simple to surf, it feels lively and cooperative.

For a little fish this board is amazing, it handles the juice, it also feels short, I think I could have easily gone a 6'0 as flying down the line would not be impacted by an extra couple of inches. Gary's boards are very refined so don't hesitate to get some extra thickness, he will hide it and performance will not be impacted. Will be tring this board some twin fin fins also, hold is amazing with the Rasta keels.

"Incredible board! Now surfed in different type of waves and it works well on fat to hollow waves. I tried 4 different fins on the RTT and mainly surf it with the Akila Aipa as it drives like mad and gives it a nice loose feeling. For bigger steeper days when take offs are going to be challenging, I surf it with the Rasta twins as it is still fast but provides added hold on the drop! The wide surface area of the board gives it a very forgiving and comfort feeling while riding the waves. Natural speed flows into long nice carves or loose fins out depending on the fins you use. I surfed the RTT on small to 4ft reef breaks and fat to hollow. I found it most fun on fat onshore days."
