The Hypto Krypto by Haydenshapes is the ultimate all round surfboard and known as the 1 board quiver. The extra volume under your chest not only makes paddling a dream, but it also allows you to generate speed very easily. The outline of this model is very similar to an old school twin fin in the nose, nice and wide which makes for easy paddling and stroking into waves easily. The pulled in pin tail allows this board to hold really nicely in the barrel when ridden in bigger waves.
The Haydenshapes Hypto Krypto model will perform in all conditions, from small average mushy waves to clean barreling point breaks. The main goal of the Hypto Krypto's unique design and outline was to generate plenty of natural speed, without compromising maneuverability or the ability to handle larger waves.
Note: Future flex (Black Carbon Rails) are not included by default, please select Future Flex under Construction.Don't forget to check out our Hypto Krypto surfboard reviews below.

Best Board ever. You can use it in all kind of waves.. fast, good paddle power.. with this Board you dont need a quiver, you can travel everywhere with one board.

Terrififc board. Paddles great and at 50 YO, I am still able to catch a lot of waves. I primarily surf So Cal beach breaks and this is perfect for most conditions from soft slow waves to steep more powerful ones. It lives up to its reputation as a one boar quiver for sure.

Great Surfboard, for all conditions, from small waves to overhead. Have been using it for a month and gets more fun every time out in the water. Easy to paddle, balance and catch waves. Excellent quality!

I haven’t been able to surf quality waves on this yet but that’s exactly what I got this for. At times I feel like, despite going shorter than boardcave recommended, if I lose any more weight it could feel a bit too floaty but then again after two hrs in the water that buoyancy and paddle power really helps getting into waves early and generating speed. Being new to Florida I bought this board to fit the conditions here and for the fact I’d been out of surfing for a few years, let me say I’ve been very impressed so far. It’s exactly what I had seen on the various YouTube review videos put out by far better surfers than me. Very fast, able to make sections then very maneuverable when turning off the back foot. In my situation having not surfed for a long while and now living in Florida (surfing both sides) this is the perfect board that will take me far beyond the level I was at before in waves that lack a bit of power. I would definitely buy again.

In typical kooky kook fashion I bought this board 2 winters ago looking to transition from my adult learner foamie. I have loved it for this exact purpose. The foam is there to make up for my oil slick seagull paddle technique and the HK’s forgiving shape makes it super easy to drop into the 2-4ft howling onshore garbage waves I struggle to even bottom turn. Better still, the flat rocker and pinny tail do make it go faster than is safe for my fellow water sport enthusiasts. Paired it with the FCS II 5 fin Haydenshapes fins because I had money to burn at the time. Truth is Ive never bothered using the quads because I barely understand what the thruster set up is supposed to feel like. I dream of buying a shorter HK because the board has been extremely forgiving and also I feel like a hipster on a mid length every time I pull it out of the bag, but I’ll probably surf it till it breaks. Also for real, it’s always been a 3 fin board design, the 5 fin shaper series was a waste o cash on the HK.

This was a great and fun board I love it so much I just ordered another one!!!!!!! Good for all waves

Really dig this board. I alternate between surfing this and a quad fish depending on conditions, pretty much year round in SoCal. I like a little more volume and a wider outline, and the hypto has just the right amount of both. Usually have it set up as a thruster. It's goes.

One of the best "all around" boards. Love to surf it with Twin "Keel" set up fins. It feels like skateboard. However, When it is big, it feels too light when it is choppy
Dave · Age: 32 · Height: 172 cm · Weight: 75 kg · Skill: Experienced · Jan 25, 2021
Sick board... Paddles great and deceivingly light. Can take hectic drops surprisingly well and cruises down the line with ease. Usually riding in around waist to slightly overhead where I'm from and this board handles small days as well as some heaters. if you're thinking about it, just do it. you won't regret it. hard to use any of my other boards at the moment!

I originally purchased a stock 6’ 10” (53.95L). Loved it, but the volume ended up being nearly identical to the Custom Brog 7’ winged swallowtail I took delivery of shortly after buying the Hypto. My home break is Sunset Point, which is really a longboard wave (slow and mushy), so I decided to sell the 6’ 10” and replace it with a 7’ Hypto with a little more volume. I am fairly close to the Haydenshapes store in El Segundo, and they had a custom 7’ Grey Futureflex for sale that had slightly more volume than stock dims (59.46L). It’s perfect for me, and offers a completely different riding experience than the Brog Swallowtail (PU; 53L). I have two torn rotator cuffs which has reduced my paddle power, but the Hypto is simply an amazing paddler and helps me compete with the young guys and the long boarders. I can catch the smallest of beach break waves (1-2’ in Santa Monica) as well as head high beasts at Zuma. It has helped me improve my pop up speed, honed my awareness of trim and wave entry, and I’m now carving turns and clearing sections. If you want to transition away from a longboard and into a midsize/big guy shortboard, this is your stick!

Theres a lot of hype about this board and good reviews, but it pretty much sucks. Its basically a fish with a round pin, because of that you don't get much lift from the tail in smaller mushier surf so its on the slow side. It doesn’t hold well at all in head+ surf either unfortunately. Its kind of resigned to a chest high wave and still slow in those conditions, it does paddle well but thats one of the only good things I found, i sold mine.
Andrew · Age: 23 · Height: 177 cm · Weight: 66 kg · Skill: Experienced · Oct 14, 2020
Pretty solid board, easy to catch waves, and works pretty well in small and poor conditions too. I wish I got it few inches shorter than my height though.
Griffin · Age: 23 · Height: 178 cm · Weight: 74 kg · Skill: Experienced · Oct 13, 2020
Great all around board for most conditions. Beware: a bit of a "quiver killer." I like the extra volume feel it has and the mid wide-point being further up, but that's not for everyone understandably.
Humberto · Age: 29 · Height: 177 cm · Weight: 80 kg · Skill: Experienced · Oct 6, 2020
I strongly recommend to anybody thinking to buy one of this to FIRST demo the board. This board is very different regarding shape and materials. So, your normal volume, shapes, fins might or might not work for you. In my experience, I went little high in volume. I normally surf with 30.5L, so I was recommended to go with less than that, but I went actually higher with 31L expecting an extra paddling power in power waves. However, on one side, I felt lack of paddling, and on the other side I felt a very good buoyancy to perform the turns. As a conclusion, this is the first board that I know I went wrong with size, however I don’t know if I should have gone higher or lower. So, I will have to demo the 5’7 and 5’9 to have a final verdict.

This board is beyond money and it knows it. Once you ride it, you’re hooked. I was coming off a Seaside & Beyond and wanted to preserve paddle power while improving to a short board. Well the Hypto Krypto is perfect. It gets you in early, it holds the rail, and it flies down the line...and it’s a good looking board. I can not recommend this stick enough. I’ve had in in waist high fair conditions and a little overhead clean Hurricane Teddy swell here in NJ, and it rips through it all. Do yourself a favor and get one.

I got this board to step down sizes from a 6'2" funboard. It is the perfect board to learn how to shortboard due to its stability and paddle speed. The board is a solid build and lasted me a long time (3 years) of consistent years with little repairs to the bottom and fin box. The only issue I have with the board is that it is very slow unless waves are at least 5 feet. Great board especially to learn turns on.
Spencer · Age: 21 · Height: 183 cm · Weight: 81 kg · Skill: Experienced · Aug 24, 2020
Super fun board with great paddle power. Kinda tough in choppy conditions, but super good on cleaner days. Definitely would recommend riding it with a thruster set up.

I love this board. Living down in south San Diego, this is my go to board year round. In just about any condition this board is so much fun

I love this board. Gets in anything. Super stable with all that volume but agile.
Christian · Age: 21 · Height: 173 cm · Weight: 80 kg · Skill: Experienced · Jul 28, 2020
The board floats and paddles really well for a 6'2" board. The fact that it's wider than most short boards give it more volume, so it's very easy to paddle into waves of all shapes and sizes. I road this board in surf double overhead and even in knee to thigh high waves. Great board for anyone of all skill levels. I highly recommend this board, probably the most fun i've had on a short board in quite some time!

Awesome board. Works well in everything and holds in bigger conditions. Nose can be a bit big and wide at times. Can be a bit stiff backside, amt twin plus 1 loosens it up
dashiell · Age: 38 · Height: 185 cm · Weight: 95 kg · Skill: Experienced · Jul 28, 2020
I’m a big dude and I like to throw buckets of spray and haul ass down the line. I go straight fast and do minimal turns but when i do I make them count. This board does that well. I don’t mind looking like a kook with a pop out $700 board from Thailand because i don’t care. I also have some handmade boards from local shapers. I’m 38 and if you read above you already know I like to haul ass and spray buckets. Board is thick so you are going to have to surf it off your back foot and learn how to do man turns since it is 3 inches thick. The future flex material travels well and is super tough and light. This makes it a good all around travel thruster for the quiver. I mostly surf midlengths, which I also spray buckets on and haul ass on but with much more style than I do on the this blade. Good board for the quiver that is easily replaceable and can usually be found as rentals in some places so a good option to have around.

Love this board. Holds its ground in head high, and can surf 2ft California summer mush. When people say this board is the Swiss Army knife of boards, it’s no joke. Definitely a go-to, and doesn’t disappoint.
Ben · Age: 16 · Height: 167 cm · Weight: 53 kg · Skill: Experienced · May 27, 2020
I got it preowned and it worked well for many years as I grew into it, but as I advanced I needed less volume in my board

Yo. The groms are frothing. North shore is head high and glassy with slight offshore winds. What do you grab? The freaking Hypto. A 12 year old drops in on your wave but it’s no problem because you bottom turn deep under that lil bugger thanks to your handy dandy 2+1 setup and beat him to the punch, all the while caressing the silky smooth carbon fiber rails like a legend. You hop out the water and Kelly Slater walks up and says, “is that a Hypto krypto??” You flip your silky smooth hair out of your face and sign Kelly’s board. That’s a Hypto Krypto.

Such a fun board in so many different conditions. I prefer it as a thruster in waves with a little push behind them, but still fun and generates speed well when waves are weak. I wont be getting rid of this board.
Mike · Age: 28 · Height: 189 cm · Weight: 91 kg · Skill: Advanced · Mar 27, 2020
This board is great for little groveling waves all the way up to a nice step up after a hurricane comes through. If I were to purchase again I would buy a size or 2 smaller than what I did, they are extremely floatey and the wide point is under your chest, so it’s easy to get into waves regardless.

I've surfed lots of different boards over last 20 yrs, including toothpicks of the late 90s, and the HK is a solid all-rounder. Surfed it as thruster, quad and 2 + 1, all really good fun, although I prefer it as 2 + 1 nowadays. Main thing is it's really fast, great paddle power, and still maneuverable, and excels in many ways types. Has performed well for me in sydney, bali, Maldives, samoa.... only wave I can't imagine it going great would be thick, steep slab. Particularly great board for guys only surfing once or twice a week.

Awesome!! Have only had it in the water a couple of times but extremely happy with the Hypto. Paddles really well and is super fast. Can't wait to see how it goes in good conditions!

I am very happy with my purchase of the Hypto Krypto 5-fin. I ordered a PE and not the FutureFlex, in my normal volume range at just under 30 litres. The board is nicely shaped with a good finish. I requested a custom size, and it was shaped in Australia which to me is a positive. I purchased this board to fill a gap between my groveller (...Lost) and performance board (...Lost). I intended to surf it mostly in 2-3ft, but have used in it slightly bigger and smaller than I first thought. It paddles well, not as quick as I was hoping but it's not a problem. As other reviews of the board have stated it is fast. In a good way. It holds its speed well and is stable. I am making some sections that I ordinarily wouldn't. The board feels good as a thruster and I don't feel the need to run it as a quad, but it's nice to have the option. Overall, the board has lived up to my expectations. I have a relatively reasonable collection of boards and was never buying it to have a one board quiver, but for people looking for an all-rounder, take a look at this board in either a thruster or 5-fin, depending on your preference.

Found volume perfect for my body weight and ability, paddling a pleasure yet able to duck dive easily. Did not feel intimidated if surf bigger than expected and generally a fun board to be in the water with and still be competitive. An excellent board for a quiver and maybe travel as suits a variety of conditions as well as being light and compact.

Hi Dudes I had a custom Hypto Kryto made 5'9'' x 201/8 and slightly thinner at 2 7/16. I went for the resin tint grey , being an older dude i didnt want to look like a try hard with the bright white board with carbon rails. The grey tint looks cool and makes the board look understated but not the performance, it is just a fantastic board, believe the hype it is simply a quiver killer, i still like to ride lots of different boards, but this board will always preform true to the shapers statement. Great board but do yourself a favour and go the tint , it puts the board into stealth mode ( a wolf in sheeps clothing) Cheers Mr T

Great board. took it to Nicaragua and rode it most of the time. Very functional in many types of surf.
Mick · Age: 56 · Height: 188 cm · Weight: 90 kg · Skill: Competent · Nov 5, 2019
Instantly noticed the added floatation helped paddling massively. Duckdiving took a little adjustment due to the added buoyancy but that is to be expected. What really blew me away was the speed down the line on the first wave, I find the board very responsive, still direct, stable through turns. At 56 years old its good to be able to go from a 6' 11" to a 6' 8" and increase paddle power. I'm very happy with the Hypto. Cheers

It has performed well in below average surf so I am excited to get into some quality waves soon, hopefully. Feels good for my age, size and ability, very happy.
Kain · Age: 30 · Height: 172 cm · Weight: 70 kg · Skill: Experienced · Nov 5, 2019
Surprised how well this board handles solid surf, has a really connected and controlled feeling and can be surfed way harder than the outline suggests. Paddles into waves better than any other board I've owned.
James · Age: 41 · Height: 165 cm · Weight: 66 kg · Skill: Advanced · Nov 5, 2019
Board goes well in clean conditions. Hard to paddle onto waves in strong offshore winds and bumpy conditions due to light weight and short length.
Adam · Age: 43 · Height: 178 cm · Weight: 95 kg · Skill: Competent · Nov 5, 2019
So easy to paddle for someone who doesn't get out as often as they should and performs like a much smaller board.

Surreal. It is no wonder why the board is one of Australia's top sellers. Able to do long open arcs and have enough speed to make sections where I wasn't able to before on my old board. The extra volume / bouancy has helped me paddle faster and stabilise my take off.
Andrew · Age: 45 · Height: 175 cm · Weight: 92 kg · Skill: Competent · Nov 5, 2019
Returned to surfing after several years off and wanted a board to gain confidence again. I have progressed way too quick for this board and found it to be a bit of a log but still a lot of fun in a range of conditions.

Works well in all conditions have surfed it in both 3ft chop to 10ft Uluwatu and the board preformed perfectly, have had a few decent falls and land a few airs and yet to have a single pressure ding. The future flex exceed my expectations ten fold.
Craig · Age: 33 · Height: 181 cm · Weight: 86 kg · Skill: Experienced · Nov 5, 2019
Great board loads of paddle power when they say you can ride it from 1ft - 8ft it's absolutely true.

Don't be afraid to go short with this model, it packs in so much volume that it just flys down the line. Very cruisey board that is easy to handle. Perfect one board quiver.

This thing absolutely kills it, from 10 foot impossibles to knee high slop. They say a good tradesman never blames his tools but the Hypto Krypto has taken me from a first year apprentice to master builder in a matter of days! Don't look past this board if you want the perfect craft every single surf.

I surfed my 5’6 hypto kyrpto in solid over head slabs in the mentawaiis. Defs the best board I have ever ridden. Paddle power was banged up and you could make any drop cause u don’t have as much length in the nose dive and its that fast.
