This is one of the best shortboards i've surfed. It's in between a high performance and an all rounder. I would highly recommend this board as a good wave board. If you have a small wave option and are looking for a good wave board in anything from 3-6ft this is a great option. Also the manufacturing quality is amazing, it's 3 years old and looks brand new.

I've had this board since 2016 (writing in 2020). It's the perfect HPSB for somebody who is used to riding grovelly / alternative shapes, and wants to get more maneuverability out of a daily grinder. Or if you're getting a little too old for super potato-chippy boards and pretending you're on the CT. This is NOT the board for pipeline. This is also NOT the first board somebody should try to surf on. For comparison, previous board was sized about +1" and -1.5L, with slightly more pinched rails. The DX1 floats better, paddles easier, bogs rail less, and is generally easier to generate speed on *for somebody who is not a pro skill level*. And for fins, this board actually got me to like more rake/sweep instead of having upright/pivot fins. In FCS this would be like a Carver or Accelerator (ie. Mick and Julian's templates). Hopefully this helps somebody

I really enjoyed this board. It's a great high performance shortboard for waist high to a little overhead in a wide range of conditions. I found this board goes well in both hollow waves (up to a little overhead) and smaller average waves (as long as there is a bit of punch behind them). If the waves are really fat or really weak the board won't really come to life as this model was designed to be surfed in decent to pumping conditions. The board performed well in beach breaks and point breaks and has mainly been surfed at Uluwatu, Duranbah and all Gold Coast point breaks and performed well in all those waves. Overall it's a more user friendly performance shortboard that's pretty forgiving and will really allow you to lay into some turns. My favourite fin setup for this board was the Futures R6 template but the JJF and Jordy Smith templates also work well!

Bit chunkier than I'd expected through the nose and rails. In good bigger rolling surf it gets a little stuck and lacks drive, my normal shortboard would be 5.10 and I ride this at 5.9. So maybe that's due to it being a touch shorter than id usually ride in good waves. That said, in punchy beach breaks it absolutely flies. Super responsive, lively and very fast. Definitely my go to beach break board or for anything up to just over head high.

My DHD DX1 is a very good board especially in sucky hollow wave it does not dig rails and very fast and responsive and holds its line through the barrel. its extra strong glassing feels unbreakable which give me confidence in surfing solid waves. all in all a very good board.

I took this board away on a trip through Central America with me and only ended up riding it a few times. I usually ride a bit flatter and stubbier board and so in the softer beach breaks I felt a lot more comfortable on my usual boards. However, on a bigger wave with a bit more face to work with this was really fun. I ordered this with a round tail and it felt really good off the bottom and would go on rail really easily. It had enough foam under the chest that it would paddle real well but not so much that it felt too foamy. I liked this board in good waves but for smaller fatter beachies I'd farther ride something stubbier.
