The Dark Twinn By Aipa was created as a part of Aipa's Dark Series, a collection of fresh designs drawn from Ben Aipa's timeless forms yet updated for cutting-edge surfing. The Dark Twinn combines an updated Swing Twin Squash pattern with Ben's Wing Twin template, which was used to create Dane Kealoha's twins in the late '70s and '90s, to give it a contemporary vibe. The change in wing positions emphasizes how the board functions as a twin fin and activates the wing-to-fin interaction.
A high-performance groveler designed for aggressive surfing in mild waves, the Dark Twinn has mid-range rockers and a reduced rail apex line. A double concave that is deepest between the forward fins moves from a staged bottom contour with a blended roll from the nose down into a single concave beneath the forward foot. Then, beginning at the wing and going through the tail, the concave combines with a good amount of vee/double-concave.
The Dark Twinn is a buoyant and responsive board that has been tested on both mushy Pismo Beach pumping Hawaiian surf.
