Terrififc board. Paddles great and at 50 YO, I am still able to catch a lot of waves. I primarily surf So Cal beach breaks and this is perfect for most conditions from soft slow waves to steep more powerful ones. It lives up to its reputation as a one boar quiver for sure.

Great Surfboard, for all conditions, from small waves to overhead. Have been using it for a month and gets more fun every time out in the water. Easy to paddle, balance and catch waves. Excellent quality!

I haven’t been able to surf quality waves on this yet but that’s exactly what I got this for. At times I feel like, despite going shorter than boardcave recommended, if I lose any more weight it could feel a bit too floaty but then again after two hrs in the water that buoyancy and paddle power really helps getting into waves early and generating speed. Being new to Florida I bought this board to fit the conditions here and for the fact I’d been out of surfing for a few years, let me say I’ve been very impressed so far. It’s exactly what I had seen on the various YouTube review videos put out by far better surfers than me. Very fast, able to make sections then very maneuverable when turning off the back foot. In my situation having not surfed for a long while and now living in Florida (surfing both sides) this is the perfect board that will take me far beyond the level I was at before in waves that lack a bit of power. I would definitely buy again.

In typical kooky kook fashion I bought this board 2 winters ago looking to transition from my adult learner foamie. I have loved it for this exact purpose. The foam is there to make up for my oil slick seagull paddle technique and the HK’s forgiving shape makes it super easy to drop into the 2-4ft howling onshore garbage waves I struggle to even bottom turn. Better still, the flat rocker and pinny tail do make it go faster than is safe for my fellow water sport enthusiasts. Paired it with the FCS II 5 fin Haydenshapes fins because I had money to burn at the time. Truth is Ive never bothered using the quads because I barely understand what the thruster set up is supposed to feel like. I dream of buying a shorter HK because the board has been extremely forgiving and also I feel like a hipster on a mid length every time I pull it out of the bag, but I’ll probably surf it till it breaks. Also for real, it’s always been a 3 fin board design, the 5 fin shaper series was a waste o cash on the HK.

Really dig this board. I alternate between surfing this and a quad fish depending on conditions, pretty much year round in SoCal. I like a little more volume and a wider outline, and the hypto has just the right amount of both. Usually have it set up as a thruster. It's goes.

One of the best "all around" boards. Love to surf it with Twin "Keel" set up fins. It feels like skateboard. However, When it is big, it feels too light when it is choppy

Sick board... Paddles great and deceivingly light. Can take hectic drops surprisingly well and cruises down the line with ease. Usually riding in around waist to slightly overhead where I'm from and this board handles small days as well as some heaters. if you're thinking about it, just do it. you won't regret it. hard to use any of my other boards at the moment!

I originally purchased a stock 6’ 10” (53.95L). Loved it, but the volume ended up being nearly identical to the Custom Brog 7’ winged swallowtail I took delivery of shortly after buying the Hypto. My home break is Sunset Point, which is really a longboard wave (slow and mushy), so I decided to sell the 6’ 10” and replace it with a 7’ Hypto with a little more volume. I am fairly close to the Haydenshapes store in El Segundo, and they had a custom 7’ Grey Futureflex for sale that had slightly more volume than stock dims (59.46L). It’s perfect for me, and offers a completely different riding experience than the Brog Swallowtail (PU; 53L). I have two torn rotator cuffs which has reduced my paddle power, but the Hypto is simply an amazing paddler and helps me compete with the young guys and the long boarders. I can catch the smallest of beach break waves (1-2’ in Santa Monica) as well as head high beasts at Zuma. It has helped me improve my pop up speed, honed my awareness of trim and wave entry, and I’m now carving turns and clearing sections. If you want to transition away from a longboard and into a midsize/big guy shortboard, this is your stick!
